This month we begin exploring our 4th guiding principle of Consciously Parenting!Principle #4- Behaviors occur on a continuum. Behaviors in children (and parents, too) correlate to the parents’ own neurodevelopment and attachment status.
I've been studying attachment for over 20 years now and I am still struck by both the simplicity and the complexity of this topic. We want to be connected to our kids, but sometimes our own patterns get in the way. We find ourselves repeating the patterns we experienced growing up and that's not always what we're striving to do!
Attachment is the study of those patterns- those long-standing patterns that help us or hurt us in our relationships.
This month, we're going to be taking a look at what attachment looks like for you from your childhood experiences and what it looks like for your kids. The best news of all is that attachment, while relatively stable over time, can change. And there are tools you have access to with your membership that can help you find your way back to connection or find it for the first time, both within yourself and in your family.
